Privacy Policy
Speakribe is built so the sensitive part, your voice, never leaves your computer. That is a property of how the app works, not a promise about how we behave. This policy explains what that covers, and is specific about the places where data genuinely does travel: buying the app, the website, and one optional feature you have to switch on yourself.

1. Introduction
Speakribe is a macOS dictation app provided by Nomadan Apps Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use and protect information when you use the app and the speakribe.com website.
It is deliberately short, because there is not much to describe. Speakribe has no user accounts, no login, and no server that your dictation passes through.
2. Your voice and your transcripts
Speech recognition runs entirely on your Mac. Audio is captured, transcribed on-device, and the resulting text is placed into whichever app has focus. No recording and no transcript is uploaded to us.
There is no Speakribe account and no Speakribe server for them to be uploaded to, which means we cannot read your dictation, cannot recover it, and could not hand it over if asked. Nothing in this section depends on trusting us.
3. Optional AI cleanup, and what changes if you enable it
The app includes an optional post-processing feature that can tidy a transcript after it is produced. It is switched off by default and does nothing until you turn it on.
- If you select an on-device option such as Apple Intelligence, nothing is transmitted anywhere.
- If you select a cloud provider, the transcribed text, not the audio, is sent to that provider using an API key that you supply. That exchange is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy, not ours.
- We never receive this text either way. We do not proxy it, we do not log it, and we never hold your API key.
If you would prefer that nothing ever leaves your machine, leave the feature off, which is how it ships.
4. Information we collect when you buy
Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Legally, they are the seller for your purchase, and they are responsible for charging and remitting any applicable VAT or sales tax. Your card details are entered on their checkout and are never seen or stored by us.
To fulfil the order we store a licence record containing:
- The email address you bought with
- Your Lemon Squeezy order reference
- A download token, and whether the licence has been revoked (for example after a refund)
- The date the licence was created
That record is what lets us issue your download link, honour free updates for the lifetime of the licence, and answer a support request years later. Because the licence is lifetime, the record is kept for as long as the licence exists rather than expiring on a timer.
5. The website, cookies and advertising
The website runs no general analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no session recording, and no advertising pixel on the pages you browse.
Two advertising-related things do happen, and we would rather state them plainly than bury them:
- If you arrive from a Google Ads click, the landing URL carries a click identifier. We store it in a first-party cookie, named sr_gclid, sr_wbraid or sr_gbraid depending on which identifier Google supplied, for 90 days so that a later purchase can be attributed to that ad. The cookie holds no name, email or address, and deleting it in your browser breaks nothing.
- If, and only if, that click identifier is present, meaning you reached the checkout from one of our ads, we send the email address used for the order together with that identifier to Google Ads, so the sale can be matched to the advertising that produced it. A purchase that did not come from an ad click has no identifier to send, and no email is forwarded. This is an advertising measurement use of your email address; if you would rather we did not, email us and we will remove your record from that process.
- The post-purchase confirmation page also loads Google's conversion tag. That page is only ever reached after checkout.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers needed to run the service:
- Lemon Squeezy: merchant of record, processes payment and provides the order details
- Resend: sends the transactional email containing your download link
- MongoDB: stores the licence record described above
- Cloudflare R2: stores the application file that your download link points to
- Vercel: hosts the website
- Google Ads: receives the advertising measurement data described in the previous section
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to the transferred data.
7. Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to how it is processed, and receive a portable copy. Similar rights apply in a number of other jurisdictions.
In practice the only personal data we hold about you is the licence record above. Write to support@speakribe.com and we will act on your request. Note that erasing your licence record also removes our ability to re-issue your download link or verify your purchase later.
Because dictation never reaches us, there is no voice data and no transcript to include in any such request. Nomadan Apps Ltd is the data controller for the records described in this policy.
8. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Download links are single-purpose, time-limited, and carry no personal data. Access to the licence database is restricted.
The strongest security property here is structural rather than procedural: the material most people actually worry about (what they said) is never collected in the first place, so it cannot be breached.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of the data we do hold.
9. International transfers
Some of the providers listed above operate outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the transfer mechanisms those providers make available, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Children
Speakribe is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version, and we will note material changes here. Continuing to use Speakribe after a change means accepting the updated policy.
